“ Each stone has a soul of its own” as Claude Arpels used to say. The Maison pays tribute to the beauty of stones with the Pierres de Caractère High Jewelry collection, unveiled on the occasion of Van Cleef & Arpels' centennial and continously enriched ever since.
Since 1906, gems have been at the heart of the Maison's identity. Its taste - forged by more than 100 years of expertise - has enabled it to identify remarkable stones throughout the years. To select them, the Stone Department seeks excellence as well as emotion.
Their uniqueness is showcased on the Pierres de Caractère creations. They exalt in turn the radiance of diamonds, the intensity of emeralds, the flamboyance of rubis and the depth of sapphires.
The Maison's double selection process reflects its tradition of excellence. Characteristics such as clarity, color and cut are meticulously studied.
Beyond these scientific criteria, comes an in-depth inspection. What follows is a unique encounter that captivates the senses, as can be seen on the Effet drapé Mystérieux necklace. The piece unites two intensly blue sapphires in a bright tête-à-tête, which are harmoniously matched.

Illuminating Van Cleef & Arpels' creations since the 1910s, colored diamonds feature a wide variety of tones. Highlighted by a row of sapphires, a 8.71-carat Fancy Intense pink diamond culminates on top of the Élégance rose ring. The stone is remarkable for its weight and clarity as well as the beauty of its material.
Three Fancy Vivid yellow diamonds enlighten the Sagesse rayonnante ring and earrings. The Stone Department patiently gathered gems weighing 8.18, 3.13 et 3.03 carats respectively, thereby creating an exceptional ensemble. The remarkable intensity of the color is further enhanced by their emerald cut.
