Masterpiece London 2022
15 June 2022
For the eighth time since 2015, Van Cleef & Arpels is taking part in Masterpiece London from June 28th to July 6th, 2022. Amid the elegant decor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, this prestigious event brings together works from around the world in the fields of art, antiques and design. The Maison will be exhibiting pieces from its Heritage collection, as well as an Extraordinary Object that offers an opulent glimpse into its style and savoir-faire.
Extraordinary Objects collection
Van Cleef & Arpels chose to highlight a precious object that reflects the longstanding tradition of merging watchmaking expertise and jewelry savoir-faire: the Rêveries de Berylline automaton. With this piece, the Maison is pushing back the limits of its art to evoke the poetic beauty of a luxuriant garden in blossom. A dreamlike flower spreads its undulating rainbow petals to reveal a treasure secreted in its center: a hummingbird radiating with myriad reflections. Gently beating its wings to the rhythm of a crystalline melody, the creature pirouettes for a moment before resuming its position at the heart of the corolla.

Heritage collection
The Heritage collection comprises vintage High Jewelry pieces created by Van Cleef & Arpels from the 1920s through the 1990s and now available for purchase. For this exhibition, the Maison is showcasing two clips that reflect the abiding influence of a specific theme: couture, expressed through expert craftsmanship.
The Bowknot clip from 1945 illustrates the intimate bonds between couture and the Maison’s aesthetic vision, at once elegant and refined. Embellished with openwork flower motifs, the whirling fabric is also set with diamonds, accentuating this shapely clip with an extra touch of brilliance.
The Dancer Clip from 1989 blends two art forms dear to Van Cleef & Arpels: couture and dance. Posing on pointe, the dancer stands out for her diaphanous tutu made of a fine yellow gold mesh that seems to whirl with every entrechat.
From June, 28th to July 6th, 2022
