The vibrant youthfulness of Spring spreads its joy through Central, Hong Kong
March 20, 2024
Van Cleef & Arpels and French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet collaborate to transform Landmark into a tribute to the spontaneity and magic that blooms with spring.
Coinciding with Hong Kong’s Art Month, the entirety of Hong Kong Land’s Central complex has been transformed as an expansive canvas to the artist. His distinctive style brings abundant colour and an unexpected world of dreamy discovery set to enchant the public.
The universe of flora have played a significant role in the history of Van Cleef & Arpels since its founding in 1906. Extensively exploring this archival inspiration, Alexandre Benjamin Navet found a natural synergy between the Maison’s passion for flora and his pursuit of colourful compositions. The public passing through Central Hong Kong will be taken on a journey through the artist's open sketchbook, filled with luscious bouquets and colourful florals in all shapes and sizes.
The artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet
“For me, flowers are all about Spring; the refreshing energy the season brings with each blooming of colour and miraculous form. I have played a lot with the vivid and luminous colours that the palettes of Van Cleef & Arpels and this wonderfully vibrant city Hong Kong share, to create a conversation with the public that is bursting with the surprise and joy of Spring.” says Alexandre Benjamin Navet.
With every project the artist approaches, the seed of his creation begins with hand sketches responding to his initial points of inspiration. When conceiving the verdant setting for the Maison, he was particularly drawn to the vibrant youthfulness of the Frivole® collection, featuring folded heart-shaped petals in polished gold with diamonds. Alexandre Benjamin Navet has refracted the design and savoir-faire unique to Van Cleef and Arpels' graceful creations through the coloured and utopian lens characteristic of his playful style, visually articulating the poetic and luminous effervescence of spring time.
