Watch Care
DAILY WEAR
How to wear your watch

Daily care advice for watches
To ensure the condition and operation of your Van Cleef & Arpels timepiece is maintained over its lifetime, we recommend taking the following precautions:
The water resistance of your watch is adapted to daily use that may involve exposure to small splashes of water. Nevertheless, we recommend that you do not immerse your watch in water.
Always keep the crown in the closed position, except when performing adjustments.
Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures (<32°F; >140°F) that may risk damaging the joints or the bracelet or strap.
Protect your watch by keeping it away from intense magnetic sources (such as magnets or household appliances) that can have an impact on the proper functioning of the movement.
Avoid exposure of your watch, especially the leather strap, to cosmetic products or acidic or chemical substances.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
How to handle your watch

Handling advice for watches
Quartz watches function using a battery that has an average lifespan of 2 years. We recommend that you never leave a dead battery in your watch, as it could damage the movement.
For manual-winding mechanical watches, we recommend winding daily before wearing by carefully turning the crown until you feel resistance.
Self-winding watches wind naturally when they are worn using an oscillating weight. To ensure that this winding mechanism works correctly, we recommend that you adjust the bracelet or strap to fit your wrist. In case your watch stops functioning, you can manually wind it by turning the crown a few times to get the movement working again.
We recommend that you to avoid manipulating the date function between 10PM and 2AM, as during this time the pinions in the movement are repositioned and could be damaged.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
How to clean and store your watch

Cleaning and storage advice for watches
We recommend you to clean your watch using a soft, dry cloth, paying particular attention to the bracelet or strap. We are pleased to welcome you into one of our Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques to provide you with an appropriate cleaning cloth.
The bracelets and straps on Van Cleef & Arpels watches are made from noble materials including leather, gold and platinum. Leather is a material that ages naturally over time. To preserve it, we recommend avoiding all contact with water, humidity and cosmetic products. Bracelets in gold and platinum may be cleaned using a soft brush soaked in warm water with a PH neutral soap, rinsed in clear water and dried using a soft cloth. Be sure to keep the face of your watch protected from the water during this manipulation.
When you are not wearing your watch, we advise you to store it separately in an appropriate case, to protect it from any impact or scratches.
